Hi,

I was wondering if there was anything obviously wrong with my test of
the T38Gateway application here:
http://callweaver.pastebin.com/m797c1f5c

In my extensions.conf, this is the line I used for testing:
exten => _8085859999, 1, T38Gateway(DAHDI/g1/8085859999)

(DID's and IP's changed in the paste)

If required, I can produce another debug with different options.

Thanks,
Julian

I found it works on occasions. The times that it does work, I see
something like this in the logs:
Jan 26 14:55:57 DEBUG app_t38gateway.c: FAX CED tone detected in T38 gateway!!!
Jan 26 14:55:57 DEBUG chan_sip.c: Forcing reinvite on SIP
(SIP/10001008-e984) for T.38 negotiation.

The times I don't see that, the Fax fails.

Any clues on why it sometimes does and does not have those lines and
how I can consistently get it to work?

Thanks,
Julian

In short yours is on a long list of 'problems' reported with T38 gateway.

Good luck getting an answer.

I'm (was) currently running spandsp-0.0.6pre3.tgz.

I've since installed spandsp-20090127.tar.gz and rebuilt CW. I'll see
if that helps in testing tomorrow.

I use v0.0.5 of SpanDSP and from what I understand this is the required
version for CW.

Where did you get that information from?

From here:
http://www.callweaver.org/wiki/Faxing+with+CallWeaver

Basic checklist if T.38 does not work:
"""# are you using the latest CallWeaver Trunk and the latest SpanDSP
snapshot ?"""

I'm running the latest CW 1.2 Branch from SVN since I compiled CW
Trunk and that mentioned it was highly experimental.

Are most people running CW 1.2 Branch from SVN and the latest SpanDSP snapshot?

Steve,

Yes, that's an IP address I modified to protect the stupid.

I noticed you made some CED changes in the recent SpanDSP. That may
or may not help but I'd need to test it out tomorrow.

Hi Julian,

In your log I can't see any received T.38 packets. i do, however see a
really interesting IP address, which seems to have come from the SIP
information - 99.999.183.2

Regards,
Steve

RX fax works for me, so for this reason I have not blamed SpanDSP.

If someone can please supply me a config sample to interface Fax Gateway to
Hylafax, I will retry it, but right now I have not been able to get it
working...

RxFax looks to be working nicely for me with T.38. That is ATA --> CW

Mostly I'm trying to get:
Linksys SPA-2102 --> CW --> PSTN Fax
via T38Gateway

I guess I could do this:
Linksys SPA-2102 --> CW --> PSTN Fax
- Where ATA --> CW uses RxFax and is T.38
and CW --> PSTN Fax and is T.30

But that 2nd solution isn't as fun Sad

On a possibly related note, does this need to be set in sip.conf or
for the SIP ATA?:
canreinvite=yes

I'll try some Wireshark traces as well.

Try analysing it with wireshark. You can check there if the tones (CNG/CED)
are present. You see the reinvites and also the udptl traffic.
