Has any body had any similar experience with this type of phone (or
nay phone)?

Hi William,

the busy signal can have several meanings:
- phone malconfigured
- number invalid
- number you called is unreachable

My first guess would be that your asterisk drops the phone into an empty
context (or similar) and such there are just no valid numbers to dial.

Logically a step for debugging would be to enter the asterisk console
asterisk -r
activate logging of as much info as necessary
set verbose 10
and try to call from the VoIP phones.

What does the asterisk console show?

BTW I saw hard phones that needed first dialing, then lifting the
cradle, and others that worked the other way around.

We're using those phones since ages and they working well. Check that
you have date and time setted on the display and that the network icon
doesn't blink. Also increase debug level in Asterisk.

Sip show peers will show the phone connected.
The phone display shows connected with IP, date and time and ... network
Icon not blinking.
If I access the phone through the web gui it shows Registered Status = yes
If I dial that phone from another extension it will ring. When I pick it up
to talk it will go into a busy signal.
If I dial any external number from that phone the Asterisk console will not
even show any thing happening.
I don't know if maybe some can send me an example of how to configure the
parameters in this phone.
I have worked with Polycom and Grandstream (which is the one I presently
have in addition to the iP0020) and never had a problem configuring or using
the phone. For some reason I have not been able to use this new phone I got
yesterday.

Ok, but sip show peer <IP0020> does show good datas aso? Do you use dhcp
or fixed IP? Did you run with sip set debug peer <IP0020>? What version
of Asterisk?

Asterisk 1.2 asked the phone to have a fixed IP, with 1.4 it's not
needed anymore. Also try to put Account ID with same value as SIP ID

Even with debug? If so, you must have a network problem.

The ting of it is
there is no log.

When I use this phone the console will not blink, no action, no reaction, no
output, nada, zip, nothing.

When I use the other phone that I have here configure as ext. 200 (a
Grandstream) then everything works fine and I do have console but when I use
this one (ext. 201 iP0020) nothing happens at the console and all I get is a
busy signal at the phone end.

Ok, here is the long version.
At home, I have an Asterisk (linux server) running version 1.4.15 (managed
by freePBX v2.3.1).
I have one ext.# 200 configured (Grandstream 2000) and it has been working
fine.
I received yesterday a new phone, the iP0020 and configured it as ext. 201.
This is the phone that even though it shows registered in the phone web ugi
and at the Asterisk end .. all I get is a busy signal. Asterisk console will
not move when I use it, is like Asterisk and the phone are not talking to
each other but ... Asterisk console does show peers and it show both phones
registered and connected.

Then your phone is either not registering with the Asterisk server
you're logged on to, or you haven't set the verbose level to higher than 3.

Fixed the problem every one!

David Lear gave me the suggestion that it might be the code the telephone was trying to use in relation with codes allow by the system. He was right. I have changed the voice code and wala ? it is working.

Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much for all your inputs?. It really really helped!

Hi

Did you get the phone from TigerNetcom? I have an IP0021 (IAX2) and
noticed that it seems to have the non north american outgoing ring
(shrill long tones separated by silence). It took a while before I
realized that it was a ring and not a problem.

I believe I also changed the sound of the dial tone with a setting. I
asked about a firmware update but was told I did not need one Wink

Yes I did ...
The real problem I am having with it is voicecode.
The phone claims to support several codes but in reality it does not give
any trouble when using iLBC. It will give you trouble with configuring with

Hmm,

we're using them with ulaw, alaw, g726 and g729 without any problem.
