Hello,
are there any plans to make freeswitch compatible with jack and puredata, like russel has done for asterisk (http://www.russellbryant.net/blog/2008/01/13/jack-interfaces-for-asterisk/) . Such a setup will enable us to manipulate or play with rtp in realtime like (http://www.lobstertech.com/code/voicechanger/) . Since both jack and puredata have a posix c++ interface, it shudnt be difficult.

cheers!!

I had intended to do it but i was surprised by the limitations.

It only works on linux, they pulled support for the important part on mac. and it doesnt work on win32
The sample rate can never be 8k (its like forced to 48k or something) so we have to always resample.

btw,

I helped out with the development of that http://www.lobstertech.com/code/voicechanger
we actually already have the equivalent (mod_soundtouch)

Jack has nothing to do with that, jack is for streaming audio from your soundcard on one box to another as if the other box was the one with the soundcard so you could say play music on hold pumped from your itunes on your desktop as a jack://my_box type stream.

If it weren't for all the limtations I would have done it already.

hi,
sorry for checking posts so late.
The intention to using jack puredata was that i wished if i could direct incoming and outgoing rtp legs to a rtmp port ( which transcoded from nellymoser to ulaw), so that a flash applet from the web could be converted into a "real" web softphone.

Its great that you have already ported voicechanger to freeswitch! I regret missing that in the wiki. You guys are really thinking ahead of the time always.

We are grateful for the work by you and team!

best regards,
ashutosh
