Hello all, question does anyone know of any low cost way of being able to
offer E911 to my customers I was looking at a few companies but they charge
a lot.
and I only run a very small company.
I am also looking into the idea of being able to join up with a few small
VoIP companies, and split the cost of E911.
if anyone has any ideas please let me know thanks.

i would look into either DASH 911 or
http://www.911enable.com
both are reliable services. If you are going to dig in the bottom of
the barrel be careful to ensure that they can actually deliver the
reliability that you need.

We're working on something like this - "pay-as-you-go" E911 so
to speak. Legally speaking, I'm not yet sure if we'll be able
to offer it for DIDs we don't provision - but we will most
definitely be able to offer you a very cost effective DID+E911
solution.

Again, legally speaking I am not sure if this is possible. It
REALLY depends on the E911 provider (hint: most of them will
definitely have something in your contract forbidding this).
More details will come when we're ready to launch this...

I do not recommend 911 Enable (ConneXon)
I had them setup for a small customer. Setup fee was $2000... ok no
problem with that. They have $10/month of usage for the service I
think (its only a few phone numbers they use)
A few months later they change the terms, now its $150 minimum fee per
month. Client does not like that arrangement. I understand per the
contract they have a right to change it but no advance notice. Just
one day they call me that an invoice 15x what they normally pay and
they are wondering why.
So watch out with that...

Well of course. The 911 companies I worked with in the past had a vulture
mentality.
