Hi,

I want to know if a p3-450 is fast enough to run a demo system?

Cheers Don

Don,

I haven't tried callweaver, but going by asterisk
requirements you can run a demo system even
on a PII system.

The audio will start to sound choppy as you increase
the number of channels in concurrent use.

Transcoding (converting from one codec to another)
places a lot of load on the CPU, it is a good idea to
try and minimize it.

Thanks so much for your assistance.

I will try and do an install from source and report back.

I know this is a really dummy question... but what ports do I need to
open up on my firewall?

Cheers Don

whether or not, and which ports to open, depends
on your config & protocol.

SIP uses 5060, more info here :

http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t235350-which-ports-to-open-for-voip-sip.html

IAX2 uses 4569, more info here :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inter-Asterisk_eXchange

If you are using a voip provider, your server
will register with your provider and open firewall
ports automatically for incoming calls.
